Bookfriends World Literature Sticky Note Book Review

(Sarah Read is an author, editor, yarn artist, and pen/paper/ink addict. You can find more about her at her website and on Twitter. And her latest book, The Atropine Tree, is now available for pre-order!)

A few weeks ago I wrote about that cool book log stamp, which is great for logging what books you've read, but how do you track your thoughts as you read? Sticky tabs are popular among readers, as are sticky notes that you can write on (if you don't want to write in the book itself). And if you want a great sticky note for your book, you can now get these adorable book sticky notes!

The Bookfriends World Literature Sticky Note Book looks like a wee book itself, with several classic titles available, like The Secret Garden (my fav), The Great Gatsby, and Moby Dick, among others. The covers are lovely, with decorative illustrations, debossing, and gold leaf. The cover is sturdy cardboard which closes like a book cover over two sets of sticky notes and secures with an elastic band. This keeps the notes from getting dirty or wrinkled, and it's the cutest thing ever.

On one side, you have 3mm grid paper, and on the other, you have 6mm lined. Perfect if you want to jot thoughts, take some sketch notes, or make a list. There are 60 sheets of each for 120 sheets total. Depending on your note-taking style, that should last you a book or three.

Because many of us are fountain pen people here, I'll note that the paper isn't super fountain pen friendly. It does bleed and feather with liquid inks, unless you have a particularly fine nib and well behaved ink. For reading notes, I'm usually using a fine gel pen or a pencil, myself, so these work well for my purposes.

It should also be noted that these aren't super sticky. That's good news for your book, which doesn't want to get gummy with adhesive, but less good if you'd planned to unstick and restick that note anywhere. You get one stick with these, and then it's done being sticky. I've spent enough time working in archives that I think this is a good thing, but if you prefer your sticky notes to be super sticky, these may frustrate you.

What may delight you, though, is the price. With this much usefulness in such a cute form, I expected these to cost more than just $6.50. That's a collect 'em all price. I could make my own wee library shelf of sticky notes!

In any case, I find these perfect for my book club reads, where I need to keep track of quotes and thoughts to share with my book friends. So, perfect that these are Bookfriends notes!
