ystudio pocket journal

The holiday season is here and we’re beginning to think about what we’ll be gifting those important people in our lives. As many of you know, I’m a big fan of ystudio and their minimalistic designs. They offer unique and practical pens, including attractive desk pens, portable fountain pens made for the road and other cool ballpoint and rollerball pens that are all intended for daily use.

What ystudio creates is not just the object itself, but also the true meaning behind their pens, as shown by their slogan “the weight of words.” The packaging is very attractive and they make for great gifts. If your curiosity is piqued, head over to Pen Chalet and take advantage of their Black Friday sales and this special free gift.

My thanks to Kenro Industries for sponsoring The Pen Addict this week.

The Penwell Craftsman, Now on Kickstarter! (Sponsor)

Penwell Craftsman

The Penwell is one of the more fun and functional products on my desk, and with the launch of the new Craftsman model on Kickstarter, Good Made Better has me making room for another.

The Penwell is a writing tool that makes using capped pens handy, and the new Craftsman model brings that same function in a heavy, handmade concrete form. Available in either a Standard model or Deluxe (which doubles the weight with a heavy brass base), the Penwell stays put on your desk and manages your pen cap so you're able to efficiently use your favorite pens for stop and go writing with only one hand. The Craftsman is now available on Kickstarter in three colors and starts at $59 for the Standard, $79 for the Deluxe.

My thanks to Good Made Better for sponsoring The Pen Addict this week.

ENSSO ARIA: A metal pen for BIC. Now on Kickstarter! (Sponsor)

Ensso Aria aluminum

Do you have a BIC ballpoint pen? Almost everyone does. It is the most famous and best-selling pen in history. About 60 pens are sold every second. Its success relies on its affordable price point, reliable ink refill, and worldwide availability.

For a few years, we have been thinking about designing a premium, yet affordable pen that accepts all classic BIC refills- a pen that would serve you a lifetime. The result is ARIA, a minimalist all-metal pen conceived with utmost attention to detail. It has a streamlined design based on ergonomics, which is perfectly balanced for the most comfortable writing experience. The barrel also features integrated threads to securely close and post the cap while writing.

Ensso Aria Brass

ARIA is machined from solid bars of space-grade (6061-T6511) aluminum and natural brass. The lightweight aluminum version is anodized in matte black for an understated and elegant aesthetic. The brass edition is heavier and offers a more tactile experience. The brass is left uncoated and will develop a patina over time. Such patina is appreciated by collectors but can easily be removed with any brass-cleaning product for a new and shiny appearance.

Our ARIA pen has been designed and engineered for over a year and it’s manufactured in California using state-of-the-art machinery with the best raw materials. Our mission is to deliver a writing instrument to be used for many years with the highest quality and elegant atemporal design.

ARIA is available on Kickstarter for $29 (50% discount off future retail price). My thanks to ENSSO for sponsoring The Pen Addict this week.
