As I round the corner on my wrist rehab (I may be back to writing and testing pens next week!) I've been looking for topics to cover in my normal Monday review spot. It hit me this weekend as I was catching up on my podcast backlog that it would be a good idea to discuss one.
As the Pen Turns is new on the scene, and a great addition to the stationery podcasting landscape. The two hosts - Brad (not related) from Mythic Pens, and Jason from Jason Neil Penworks - approach the medium from a makers perspective. Both being relatively new to the pen crafting scene, it's great to hear their thoughts from behind the lathe.

The goal of the podcast is to share their journey and expertise through the lens of a small maker. After listening straight through all six episodes on Sunday, I think they would both laugh at the use of the word expertise in my description, but I think it is earned. This stuff is hard!
And detailed. And nerdy. And expensive. And time consuming. And fun. And fulfilling. And we are all lucky to have makers like this willing to take us behind the scenes and share the good, and the bad.

The breakdown of the show so far has been a rotation of workshop-type episodes where Brad (not related) and Jason get into the nuts and bolts - literally - of making pens, alternating with interviews with awesome makers like Brian Weaver, Ryan Krusac, and Jonathon Brooks. And that's with only six episodes in the can!
