Pen Hack: Zebra Sarasa Clip to Pilot Hi-Tec-C Cavalier

Pen Addict reader Quinn was messing around last week and came across this near perfect match for a pen hack. I'll let him share the good news:

AWESOME PEN HACK: Sarasa Clip Refill + Hi-Tec-C Cavalier Body = Perfection! This may be common knowledge, but I was just playing around and had to share this discovery. I had always been underwhelmed with the Sarasa Clip body, but not anymore.

I was pretty excited myself to verify this since I love the Cavalier barrel, and sure enough, it is essentially a perfect match.

I swapped the Zebra Sarasa Clip ink cartridge into the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Cavalier barrel with no issues (the cartridges do not go the other way around fyi). I started writing away, and the results were impressively solid. The cartridge was a perfect fit length wise, and the only tiny issue I saw was that the tip of the cartridge isn't fully flush with the barrel opening. It is so close though that it actually took me about five minutes to even notice it. That is something that could be tightened up extremely easily if it bothers you.

Sorry for the poor quality on that last picture - I didn't have my real camera handy. If anyone wants to see a better close-up just let me know and I'll take a new one this weekend. Thanks for the great tip Quinn!

Giveaway: Zebra Sarasa Push Clip Gel Ink Pen - 0.3 mm - 10 Color Set

Sarasaclip
On my last Top 5 Pens List, the Zebra Sarasa Clip 0.3mm was the surprising new number one pen. I am still enjoying it immensely, so I figured why not give out a 10-Pack of these goodies from JetPens to kick off the "rebirth" of The Pen Addict. I like to keep my giveaways as simple as possible, but I do have a few changes in the giveaway rules listed below, so please take a fresh look at them.

The major change is that I will have to limit giveaway entries to US residents only. This really stinks because the readership of The Pen Addict is truly worldwide. I have shipped many packages overseas - from Argentina to Australia - and I hate that I have to restrict it. I give credit to Brian at Office Supply Geek for doing all the legwork on this issue, which you can read more about right here. I couldn't have said it better myself.

With that unfortunate update out of the way, here are the rules.

1. Leave one comment on this post anytime between now, and Thursday night at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.  You are limited to one entry. This contest is limited to US residents only.

2. Please follow @jetpens on Twitter and "Like" JetPens on Facebook. This is not mandatory, but I sure would appreciate your support!

3. For this contest, I will pick one winner at random from the comments section of this post.  The comments will be numbered in the order they are received, i.e. the first comment is #1, the second #2, and so on.  The Random Integer Generator at random.org will be used to pick the number of the winner.

4. The contest winner will be posted on Friday, May 20th.  The winner will have one week to email me at the address posted in the right sidebar.

Thanks and good luck!

Zebra Sarasa Clip 0.3 mm Blue Green Review

Zebra Sarasa

Current favorite pen model? Yes. Current favorite color? No chance.

One of the things that attracted me to the Sarasa Clip 0.3mm aside from the great performance was the wide range of ink colors that are available. I have tried many, and have several left to review, but this blue green color ranks up there with some of the worst. Admittedly, one of the issues is that such a light color does not work that well on my Doane Paper Writing Pad. A plain white background would have probably worked better in this case. Even so, the end result is a color that actually causes eye strain for me, and that's not a good thing. Time for this one to hit my kids pen box.

It has been a while since I jotted some lyrics down for review, but when I saw They Might Be the 50 Best They Might Be Giants Songs on UGO.com back in January, I knew I had to do my #1 TMBG song "We Want A Rock" (#13 on the list). I have other favorites like "I Palindrome I", "Ana Ng", and "Minimum Wage", but Rock always gets me going. Enjoy the song:
