We are already to day 6 in our Inkvent Calendar journey. I don’t know about you, but I’m beginning to panic because I’ve bought exactly one present so far, and I haven’t wrapped it yet. That thought does not make me very merry.
But, the ink behind door six is definitely merry. It’s called Ho, Ho, Ho--a name I love in spite of my Christmas anxiety. It’s a bright red standard ink with orange tones.
The ink is fairly flat. It doesn’t have any sheen and shading is minimal. The orange cast to the ink is visible in ink testing, especially on white Rhodia paper. My photos are a bit washed out, so keep in mind that the ink is slightly darker in real life.
I generally prefer cooler shades of red over warm, orangey reds, especially during the holidays. But, that’s just a personal preference. This ink evokes the pleasant hue of a winter sunset in Albuquerque, my hometown. I get so homesick this time of year--especially for the smell of piñon wood and the taste of New Mexico chile rellenos. Ho, ho, home.
